With a new season upon us, the Italian champions face a new challenge.
Antonio Di Nesta will be looking to make the most of his first opportunity to make a start since signing from Inter Milan for €30m in June 2018.
With the Champions League to come in September, he’ll need to show that he can be a reliable starter, but also keep up the pace.
Juventus will be without the services of their talisman, Leonardo Bonucci, who is out for four months with a knee injury, as well as captain Salvatore Sirigu and their talismans, Mario Mandzukic and Gonzalo Higuain.
The arrival of Di Nessa, who’s been a constant presence at the centre of Juve’s defence since his arrival in July, will give them an added defensive presence.
But, as we’ve seen in the past, he’s only as good as his last performance.
Juventus need to get on with the task, and Di Netta will have to deliver a goal or two to help them make it a realistic challenge for the title.
